Crispy Air Fryer Tofu

Extra crispy tofu, perfect for adding to your favorite dishes or snacking on its own!

Ingredients

  • Extra-firm or super-firm tofu(1 block (14-16 ounces))
  • 🌽Cornstarch or arrowroot powder(1-2 tablespoons)
  • 🧂Soy sauce or tamari(1 tablespoon)
  • BevanSesame oil(1 teaspoon)
  • 🧄Garlic powder(1/2 teaspoon)
  • 🌶️Optional: Sriracha or other hot sauce(to taste)

Instructions

  1. 1.Press the tofu: Wrap the block of tofu in a few layers of paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Place a heavy object on top (like a cast iron skillet or a few cans) and let it press for at least 30 minutes, or up to a few hours, to remove excess water. This is crucial for crispy tofu!
  2. 2.Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  3. 3.Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1/2 to 3/4-inch cubes.
  4. 4.In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and sriracha (if using).
  5. 5.Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and gently toss to coat. Make sure all the tofu pieces are covered.
  6. 6.Sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu and toss again until the tofu is lightly coated. The cornstarch is our secret weapon for extra crispiness!
  7. 7.Arrange the tofu in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  8. 8.Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5-7 minutes, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  9. 9.Serve immediately and enjoy your perfectly crispy air-fried tofu!
