Crispy Air Fryer Pork Belly

Achieve unbelievably crispy pork belly with a tender, juicy interior, all thanks to the magic of the air fryer!

Ingredients

  • 🐷Pork Belly(1-1.5 lbs)
  • 🧂Salt(1 tbsp)
  • 🌶️Chinese Five-Spice Powder(1 tsp)
  • 🌶️White Pepper(1/2 tsp)
  • 🍚Baking Soda(1/2 tsp)
  • 🍶Vinegar (white or apple cider)(2 tbsp)

Instructions

  1. 1.Pat the pork belly skin thoroughly dry with paper towels. Score the skin in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
  2. 2.In a small bowl, mix together the salt, Chinese five-spice powder, white pepper, and baking soda.
  3. 3.Rub the spice mixture all over the meat side of the pork belly, avoiding the skin. Flip the pork belly over and brush the skin with vinegar.
  4. 4.Place the pork belly in the air fryer basket, skin side up. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 40 minutes.
  5. 5.After 40 minutes, increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and air fry for another 20-25 minutes, or until the skin is deeply golden brown and incredibly crispy. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.
  6. 6.Remove the pork belly from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a tender interior.
